Spiderweb Breads Part 1

Fancy scoring is harder than people make it look. I was going for a spiderweb, but my first loaf ended up looking more like little witch hats. I actually like the way it looks, it’s just not what I was going for LOL. Attempts 2 and 3…I mean… there’s a suggestion of a spiderweb? Not sure why one got all ear-y in the middle. All breads are spiderwebs until further notice and I finally get it.

The first loaf was just a regular sourdough. 2 & 3 were chocolate chip + butter loaves, but this time I put everything in during stretch & folds and let it bulk ferment with the inclusions vs last time when I laminated after bulk fermentation. I like this way better because the chips are more evenly distributed, but it did make it harder for me to figure out when fermentation was done. I think this is a little under fermented but don’t worry I will still easily eat it all 😄

But MAJOR BREAD TRAGEDY: I had my starter on the stove like a dummy while I was baking these breads, and by the time it occurred to me it was too hot the starter was already cooked 😭😭 I had some relatively fresh discard in the fridge so I fed that. I’m seeing some bubbles so I think we’ll be OK but please pray for us in these difficult times
